Dear Diary...
POP - it's today
vendredi 17 avril 2009

OMG. Brawn just topped the tables AGAIN during today's practice session in Shanghai. Ferrari is still off-form. Changes to the F60 will only be seen in Bahrain, which is right after Shanghai. Hope it will help.

Back to point. POP today. :( Felt sad. Amazing how 3 years just gone in a flash. 3 years back I was a short sec 1 cadet, getting hidden by everyone else taller than me in the part during parades. 3 years down, today I was standing in front of 30 cadets, significantly taller :) haha.

And I'm glad I managed to pass out with an award. I'm the first person in the unit to receive this new award, Best In Marksmanship. I'm honoured. :) Legacy? haha. Maybe historic. 3 consecutive, Part A IMT, Part B IMT, Part C live firing. :)

POP was okayy, very traditional. But I screwed up so many times again today! Argh. Was too nervous. Looks like for me, the more times I went up, the more times I screwed up. First time I broke from the parade to receive my Best in Marksmanship Award from Madam Chua, flawless. Second time, broke from parade to pass Part A UDI post tag to Dong Hong. Screw up second salute. ARGH. Third time, received service plaque from Sir Teo, screw up second salute! ARGH.

Screw up. LOL. At least it'll be memorable haha. Eh yong hwee, pity I was wearing gloves when I went up to receive my award right? HAHA.

Now for my parting speech, that I was unable to deliver after the POP.

Well, Part As, the journey will only get tougher and tougher. Treatment on you will only become harsher and harsher. And all you can do is work harder and harder.

Time flies. You probably will not believe me now, for you are still enduring hardship in your part and still wondering when all these will end and when you can finally become NCOs. Don't worry, your time will come. Time will fly faster than you want it to.

In the mean time, as Part B cadets-to-be, please do not give you Part B UDI and specialists any trouble. The unit, including us seniors and teacher officers, have identified you, your batch, as one with loads of potential. Believe me, we have never seen such great volumes of potential from sec 1 cadets. So, keep holding on, and make Catholic High Air Unit the 1st Unit, at the national level. :)

Also, I hope that all of you can resolve and conflicts you might have peacefully, maturely. In a flight of 30, cadets of different background etcetera etcetera, there is bound to be friction between you. But remember my mantra, "you guys are a family. you guys are brothers." Brothers do not bear grudges with each other forever. :) As family, all of you should be giving each other support, and offering help to each other. Please do not ostracise or discriminate any brother in your midst. Part A '09 is synonymous to brotherhood, family.

And and and, as cadets of the '08-'09 shooting IC, and the first person to recieve the Best in Marksmanship Award (COCKY ALREADY HAHA), I expect to see a lot of marksmen from you! DON'T DISAPPOINT ME KAY!

I'm waiting for you to bring our unit, to greater heights.

Reflection on my shooting team and experiences. Well, although we didn't manage to get any award or recognition, glad we managed to beat ACS(I), a dream we have been harbouring for years. :) Lost them in orienteering, lost them in Challenge Quest. But we won them in shooting. (CHESHIRE CAT GRIN :D)

And and and, thanks a lot, Ernest and Ting Wei. Thanks for making all those calls for me, and doing all the saikang (extra work) for me also. :) Couldn't have asked for better specs. Thanks :) *hugs Ernest and Ting Wei tightly*

For the new batch of NCOs...I've got not much to say :/ Just try your best, and do what you guys do best. :)

And Wei En once asked,"Is shooting really that important to you?" The question was asked last year, during the HQ NCC Annual Shooting Competition. I was very convinced that it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to miss 20 SHOTS during the Competition and I demanded a reshoot. In the end, my 4/24 became 22/24. Did my best. :) (could have been better though haha, but not under those circumstances.)

Well, shooting really is that important to me. Only thing I'm good at. And the only other way I can serve my unit and bring it to greater heights.

No matter what post you get, we all have our parts and roles to play to bring the Catholic High NCC Air Unit to greater heights.

I played my part. :)

Amazing how I was actually dreaming for most of the time on the parade.

our first 2.4km run. First time we saw someone 'faint' aeromodelling. shooting. Projects. Not compulsory. crying together that night RX went bonkers during Annual Camp. paying money for air fund. scream in joy when we got our posts. conflicts. laughing things off. airbase attachments. heartaches. dreams.

That explains why I was always shocked when the emcee called my name.
