2 Star Kayaking Personal Skill Course Finale

Our journey on water has finally ended, with a mass capsize frenzy..LOLS.

Ok lets go through the overview of today's activities.

First we, were taught the kayak to swimmer rescue. In the is rescue, it involves 1 victim (swimmer) and 1 rescuer (kayaker). The victims were lined up in the middle of the canal and the kayakers were to launch off, put on their spray covers before heading off to rescue the swimmers as fast as possible. Brandon rescue me dam slow...S: But i rescue him dam fast :) so proud of myself. haha.

Next we, split up into our groups. The Milos, my group went to our instructor and we proceeded with skills refinement. We were assessed on the skills we have learnt. Our rescues, low brace turn, high/low support recovery, sculling draw with edging. We passed all easily. This was when i commenced on my Eskimo bow frenzy. did 11-12 bow rolls consecutively before stopping, to let Brandon have his turn. And when he did, he lost his spectacles, again...S:

Today was really fun, we got to capsize as much as we liked, we just couldn't get enough of capsizing. After the assessment, we went for lunch. had chicken chop rice again. haha.

After lunch, we had some time to ourselves and i did 11-12 Eskimo bows :D.

After that, we commenced our 6km expedition. for our 'to' journey the expedition leader was Benedict, Asst expedition leader was wei kit and the port and starboard markers were yong hwee and hui yang. Went along the gardens at the bay to the Singapore Flyer. Had a group photo taken there. Must be very nice, can't wait to lay my hands on the photos haha.

After that, on our 'fro' journey, i was the expedition leader, yu cheng was my asst, and i had 2 sec 2s as my port and starboard markers. Finally after the expedition, we had some time spent with our instructors we were allowed to do anything we wanted.

So the instructor showed us the true blue Eskimo roll first. Dam cool. A complete self-rescue. was like dam cool. Den he taught us the deep sea entry. Deep sea entry is to just enter ur boat with no assistance when ur feet can't touch the seabed. Had no problem coming out of the kayak. Didn't capsize. Problem lies in sliding ur belly up on the stern of ur kayak. Had a hard time doing that. When i finally did that, i slid myself forward and i was in the cockpit :D. so fun.

Den i commenced another Eskimo bow frenzy. but this time only managed to do it 7 times consecutively. Cos on my 8th capsize, Brandon's kayak was too full of water. When i rested my hands on his bow to catch a breath, he capsized, forcing me to make a wet exit. after being rescued by Gary halfway, i capsized, Gary capsized too. And a mass capsize ensued lOl.

We finally got back up to our kayaks after a pretty long time. Its always fun to be in the water. I will forever miss the 2 star kayaking days...

On my way home from kayaking, i had the sudden urge to get a 'traffic light' ice cream. But i later found out that no one sells it anymore.

I suddenly felt that even the most simple pleasures that we used to enjoy has vanished in the fast pace of our rapidly developing society. The simple yet refreshing 'traffic light' ice cream has already been replaced with vanilla and chocolate cones. As i walked home today, that corridor of the market suddenly felt like memory lane. My mind just seemed to re-construct the corridor of probably 5 years ago. The old TV repair store. The gift shop that i used to buy ice cream from. Everything fell in place before my eyes, but by the time i blinked again, all was gone. This gave me some kind of a wake up call.

Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy what u have while it lasts.
