Dear Diary...
Of Lichen and Alpine Plants

On my way home from Math tuition an hour ago, I saw a tall tree partially covered with bright orange lichen. It somehow reminded me of my climb up Fox Glacier a few years back. (P4, p5?)

We were descending from Fox Glacier to the bus park. I must have not wedged by crampon into the ground properly and so, I slipped. Almost off the sloping rock face. :/ Scary. Thank god for that dead, or almost dead little alpine plant which I held onto as I dug my boots into the rock face to get myself up again. Although I probably might not have died from that height and gradient, I'd probably get a set of broken bones. Nevertheless, thank you Alpine Plant.

And a little shrub like those in the picture save my bones. :/

Piece of advice to anyone going trekking up glaciers or mountains : use your crampons carefully.

Crampons and boots I used to scale Fox Glacier. Compared to professional climbing crampons, those are really inferior.

I remember my guide talked to me about these professional crampons. For climbing vertical ice faces. You'd need 2 ice axes too.
