Dear Diary...
Bittersweet goodbyes
vendredi 27 mars 2009

Today, sec 4s of PB, and NCC air stepped down unofficially.

I'd remember those memories always. :) nostalgia oh nostalgia.

Remember my naïveté. I really wanted to be a prefect not because I wanted to serve the school (pack of lies). It was just a very simple thought. I wanted to be a prefect, simply because I wanted to try to be 1. I wasn't a very good boy in primary school. I got into trouble multiple times. I was quite determined to change myself. And so I did. Let's just say I am a good liar. :)

Why you want to be a prefect?
I want to serve the school. I never been a prefect before so I want to try it out now. :)

What do you do if your teacher was quite unreasonable in class.
I'd write a petition and get my class to sign it and we'd present it to her. I've written a couple already.

Hoho. I really said that. And I really did those. lol. But, as if those changed anything. :S So after I answered the question fairly calmly, Ms Saras was like,"EXCOs, I don't think you have to ask him any questions already. So, you want to be a prefect or councillor?" So I kind of giggled, and the EXCOs just went on asking questions. Haha.

Eventually, I became a prefect. :) Fond memories. Sitting on the red carpet. Being the only prefect in class was hard. Not all teachers were that understanding, classmates didn't improve matters.

NCC air. Really it's not as if I had much of a choice. I'd have to thank Senior Darryl for coming in the morning to my class and convincing me, and helping me to transfer from NCC land to NCC air. And I'm damn glad I got in. :)

Then came all the fun. Shooting, aeromodelling and all. Fun. And by sec 2, I was already the shooting IC :D I'm most proud of that. That, I have to thank senior john for trusting me. :) So I'd bring the shooting team and the then sec 1s for their shoots.

Aeromodelling. Thank you RX and Gary for being my mechanics during the competition. :) The yellow plane was jinxed. Me and Ernest were unable to take off the plane after the pit stop. CHY CRASHED MY BLUE COMPETITION PLANE A DAY BEFORE THE COMPETITION!!! ARGH. 发大财. I'd always remember that Hui Yang. LOL. The second day was worse. We didn't take off. :( My plane just lifted off before the engine cut off and crashed. And the spark plug was spoilt. Rong Xuan tried to save it. We flew it again. This time, the plane jumped straight into the air at a 90 degree angle. Before lunging itself towards the ground. :) Disqualified for dangerous flying. Autopsy: The lines were tangled. :/

We were severely outgunned and overpowered. Our engines were old. No other adjective. Simply OLD. Well, I'm glad we tried. haha. And I remember Sir Warren and another senior who came to participate as well. Nostalgia, again. Oh, and Tiffany. LOL. Yong Hwee fly with Tiffany. lol. (correct right?) According to Sir Warren, that girl made Snr Desmond crash his plane. LOL. fond memories

Verdict: The top 3 flyers, weren't the top 3 after all. Our dark horse, whom is also our stuntman, flew the best. Applause for Brandon Yip please. :)

Talking about the top 3 flyers, I'd always remember those control-line duets I had with Ernest and Yonghwee. Both very memorable. I flew once with Yonghwee. Yonghwee stopped for his pit stop and placed his handle on the floor. Somehow, my legs got entangled, and I was hopping, trying to keep my plane flying while Yonghwee struggled to free my legs. I was clinging on to his shoulder for support. You should have seen how hilarious that was. In the end, the efforts were still futile. The control line started to have a tight painful grip on me and I crashed onto the ground. So did my plane.

And Ernest. :) I remember we flew this very beautiful duet. We were taking turns overtaking each other. The competition was simply intense. You can imagine our planes leapfrogging over one another every other second. Somehow, we lost our coordination through our shouting of instructions at each other and my planes' propeller clipped his elevator. Both our planes went down. :) Coolio.

And I'd remember our practice flight in the rain. So fun. He was flying his yellow high speed plane. And I was flying my blue quick-start plane. :) My blue plane was known for its quick start ups. Ernest's was known for it's high speed. :) But really, our planes were both equally matched, as they were built with the same pair of skillful hands of Mr Yip. :) We were flying in the rain, and we could feel the pitter-patter of the raindrops on our planes through the vibrations of the control line. Never forget that either.

Memories. :)

And shooting competition, and the disappointments. And late last year, that 2 mile walk in and out of HQ. Got real wet in the rain, trying to ensure that my sec 2 team would not be late. And the nervous scoring in the chamber, and the banging of my fists when they weren't on form. But still, I believe you guys done your best. :) Kudos to you.

Then came the time for us to pick up responsibilities. NCC air post interview. I had a script ready, and a mind full of ambition. The room was scary. But I think i tried my best and said what I wanted to say.

If I don't get the CSM, I'd certainly be disappointed. But just like what Sir Anthony told us during Leadership Camp. No matter what post we may be awarded, we all have our roles to play in helping our Unit Soar to Greater Heights.

And I remember, I said a Manhole cover was round, because the manhole was round. :/ lol

Looking at my sec 1s now, Part A UDI might really be more suited for me. :) It's a revolution. :D Sec 1s in body, the best in mind. The best is yet to be.

Back to PB. I was thinking whether I should run for PB EXCO. Eventually I did, with the same naïveté. I just wanted to try it out.

Why did you want to come for this interview?
I like being interviewed?

Everyone in the room laughed. lol.

Ok la, no la. I just wanted to try it out. Since I'm in the board for so long, no harm trying.

Make a choice between PB and NCC.
Without doubt, if I were to make a choice between the 2, as I've mentioned to Mr Teo before, I would choose NCC.

I was terribly honest, this third interview. Honesty is the best policy?

I was made EXCO, although I was very doubtful. During the announcement, I was pretty sure Jun Yao or Jason or Yong Kang would become EXCO. The other 3 which I was very sure whom will get a position were Wei Lun, Nobel, and Zong Da, who were appointed to become Vice Heads and Head Prefect eventually.

The probation period was fun. :) I saw it coming. EXCO, no higher. Wasn't expecting any higher either. haha.

I'd probably remember that jeering (yes, it's a J, not CH) during the investiture. Shit happens. I'm not a very popular person. *manages a weak smile*

Sigh. There goes. It's goodbye.

Jacob. My shooting IC. :) I'd make you the captain, but I had to consider your other responsibilities, so, I hope you'd understand. Toh Hong, all the best, taking over me, in both my trainfire duties, and my cadets. And Ken Seah, well don't play with what you shouldn't, *hinthint* and all the best also. haha. Real coincidence, my Trainfire ICs all became the Part B UDI and Specs. So they are taking over my duties in more ways than 1. Amazing how fate works. :) I've faith.

Yuk Tim. It kinda makes me feel I watched you grow up. The OG. Psycho-ing of you to join NCC air. I never really believed my psycho-ing worked, until you shocked me by turning up at the fall-in area. Wow. time flies, USM.

I can't help but smile while finishing this post. But that were 3 colourful years. And Part As, you are painting a vivid finale for me. :) Thank you, all 30 of you. You guys have been great fun. :) better than I expected. Really. :)

argh, and negligence today. mental note, get them to drink water, and spend more time with them. got it.

20 rounds in 40 minutes today. Determination drives me further.

you know, I think this post was meant for POP. But doesn't matter, I'd have more to write then.

This video turned up on my blog a couple of times already, I believe.

Read the post memoirs of my late wife. haha.
